“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” - Albert Einstein
Throughout my academic career in Turkey, Germany, and the United States, I have had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest minds in their respective fields. These unique cultures facilitated a rich environment for me to cherish diverse perspectives, maintain a curious mindset for learning, and experience the fulfillment of sharing knowledge with others. The intellectually stimulating nature of these experiences made it a rather easy decision to seek a career that has education at its core. My teaching goals are to inspire curiosity about the subject, foster strong connections with students while encouraging diverse viewpoints, and motivate them to find practical applications of the material in real-world settings.
I have taught the undergraduate courses Marketing Research and Marketing Analytics at both the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma. These courses were delivered in various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid modes. Additionally, I developed and taught the first-ever Marketing Analytics course at the University of Oklahoma, equipping students with modern and applicable quantitative skills.

Teaching these technical courses presented unique challenges, as students often lacked familiarity with statistical methods for data analysis. I effectively introduced these concepts from the basics, using current examples of how companies apply data analysis daily, including insights from my own industry experience. To enhance my students’ understanding of the practical implications, I invited industry experts as guest speakers from prominent companies. These included the Coca-Cola Company in the beverage sector, Delta Airlines in travel, Hanes and Onward Reserve in apparel, Home Depot in home improvement, Seismic in software, and SunTrust in financial services. This approach helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

My extensive experience teaching courses that incorporate emerging methodological tools, including machine learning methods, has equipped me with the skills necessary to instruct advanced methods courses like marketing metrics to a Master’s level audience. As I embark on the next phase of my career, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the marketing community by conducting relevant research and creating valuable learning experiences for my students. This dual focus enables me to make a significant impact on the field of marketing, both academically and practically.
